So I have not posted images for quite a while, since spring break actually. I got sucked into the last couple weeks of school with projects, final papers, and tests.
Now that I am home back in PA/DE, I will be going shooting more often hopefully, but finding a job and doing some web design and graphic design work as well as portrait work for some folks has taken priority over updating my blog for this first part of summer. My blog does not pay me unfortunately. I will try my best to get some photos up here and I apologize if you are continually bummed out when you see the same thing. I will also be working on redesigning my website/blog and integrate the two into one website. Right now I am doing another website for another person and learning more xhtml/css stuff so I can do what I want to do. So, that means when I do put time in it will most likely be working on my new website and “look”.
On a good note, I just invested some money into another flash and some flash stands so I hope to do some lighting work with whatever/whoever I can find. The reason I decided to get more lighting equipment is because it has been something that has always interested me, and the class I am taking in Italy this fall is a lighting on location class. So during the summer I will be learning as much Italian as I can as well as getting better at using off camera light.
Thanks for stopping by,
Tyler

Well I decided to venture out of Seattle for a couple days, starting northwest towards the Pacific Ocean. I took the Rt. 105 loop around the Olympic Mountains and down to Aberdeen. In between I stopped at the very cool Hoh Rainforest but unfortunately it was a steady downpour. Regardless it was neat to see but I did not get too many worthy pictures. I did however get to see the Pacific ocean from the U.S. mainland for the first time, which was really cool. When I arrived in Aberdeen, I decided to randomly drive to Portland, Oregon instead of back to Tacoma, and that is where I am now. I will check out Portland tomorrow and then head back to Tacoma that night. Here are two pictures of a lake that I passed on the Northeast side of the Olympic Mountains. It was a very scenic drive the entire time. I believe the name of the lake was Lake Crescent.

I have been staying in Tacoma with Josh’s Army buddy Rob. Hes a cool guy and has this sweet place in Tacoma. He lives on the top floor of what used to be a hotel, and now is an apartment building. He has the pent house with a great view overlooking Tacoma. Here are some shots I took while Josh and I wondered the streets of Tacoma….

This is the first vacant bridge I have ever been on or seen… It was pretty cool though.

Hi everyone, sorry I have not posted for a while, I have not had internet access until now. My friend Josh and I, both photo students, decided to go to Seattle, WA for spring break. When we arrived we hit the world’s first Starbucks!
Seattle is a great city, very cool. There is enough rain that anything grows wherever it can, even out of pipes. I will definitely come back again.

Well most of us if not all of us in Bozeman have heard the news about three buildings on the downtown 200 block exploding this morning around 8:30. The explosion was heard by Mark MacLeod (read post below) who lives at least 8 miles out of town. He said it sounded like an unusual shotgun blast in the distance. Many people felt the blast including my friend who lives 6 blocks away. from the site. Another friend of mine had passed the Boodles restaurant and bar 10 minutes before it exploded. Right now as I write this post one person is unaccounted for. Pretty lucky that it happened early in the morning after a big snow and not many people were out walking along main street! My friend Andy Orr of www.aretephotograph.com went downtown about an hour after the blast to take some photos. Thanks Andy!

Since the beginning of February I have been working with photographer Mark MacLeod. He is a local photographer in Bozeman, MT who got his photography degree at Montana State and has owned his own business called Highlander Photographics pretty much ever since. His commercial clients include American Express, U.S. Tobacco Company, Wrangler Jeans, HBO, Montana State University, Turner Broadcasting, J. Water Thompson Specialized Communications, Sports Illustrated, Gatorade, Spanish Peaks Brewing Company and Shiloh Sharps Rifle Manufacturing.
This is one of my favorite photos of his:

If you are interested in decorating your home or office with a western theme, a Mark MacLeod print is a must have! LINK
As for our venture, our main goal is to get all of his slides (at least 1000+) scanned and cataloged. I am going to take pictures to document the process. I am also writing an in depth tutorial about how to scan and catalog slides properly as part of my technical instructions paper for my English 223 class. Its going to be a fun semester!

Sorry for the long delay folks, I have been kept busy with school and trying to get an internship (which I have now) in Bozeman. I have also been shooting large format and so I haven’t gotten around to taking much digital, but I promise I will scan some prints that I have made in the darkroom with 4×5 negs.
Today my friend and I took a drive to northern Yellowstone through Mammoth and the Lamar Valley. We saw quite a few buffalo and elk, as well as wolf spotters. We spent a lot of time taking pictures with our large format cameras, but I was able to shoot some digital along the way too. Here are a couple shots that are somewhat similar to the ones I was taking with the 4×5. I plan to shoot my final project on winter miniscapes.

I was able to spend a few nights in Las Vegas before driving up to my grandparent’s house in St. George, Utah for Christmas. It was a fun time, and you should definitely visit Vegas at least once. These are some shots that I was able to take the one night I was there. (I missed the previous night because I got stuck in Salt Lake City overnight). All shots were hand held might I add : )

This was a the sunset shoot in Nevada City I did with DLWS. Moose informed me that the Owl was one in a long chain of relatives that have hung around Nevada City for years. It was the first time I was able to shoot an Owl.
